In this article featured on page 30 of the March 2023 edition of Behörden Spiegel, Kim Schuck and Martin Müller outline the importance, functions, and goals of the European Repository of Cyber Incidents: the focus is on the combination of political science, technical, and international law perspectives on cyber attacks and their consequences, as well as downstream policy response strategies. The focus of the EuRepoC dataset, they write, is on incidents that are of particular relevance to the EU. The aim is to better understand the increasingly transnational common threat landscape in times of so-called “supply chain attacks” and to further develop response mechanisms of EU member states such as the EU Cyber Diplomacy Toolbox in their application. This should raise awareness of cyber threats and promote resilience in all areas of society through a transparent data situation in an era of growing dependence on digital technologies.
